For the first time ever, kids’ artwork is blasting off into space!
Kids from five DrawTogether Classrooms around the country created drawings to share with the rest of the universe—symbols that capture whatever they think are the most meaningful, wonderful or important parts of life in our world.
The kids drawings will be etched into the metal surface of a satellite, which a rocket will soon carry into space. The satellite will then orbit Earth, going around and around, showing off these drawings—the FIRST EVER kids art show in outer space!
This creative collaboration between DrawTogether and NASA was inspired by the astronomer Carl Sagan, who in 1977 sent a Golden Record up into space on the Voyager spacecraft, filled with sounds and images from Earth to share with potential extraterrestrial life. Kids’ Drawings for the Universe
DrawTogether kids from 5 different classrooms and programs around the United States created simple iconography to demonstrate what they are most proud of on Earth and want to share with the rest of the universe.
